Nursery Celebrate World Book Day

Oliver’s grandfather, Professor David Clutterbuck, a prolific writer and keynote speaker for leadership, coaching and mentoring and children’s books, visited our Nursery and read his story ‘My Grandad’s a Dragon’, which had the children laughing and commenting.

He told the children that they could make up their own stories and had them interacting with ‘The Magic Hairbrush’ and ‘The Magic Telescope’. His first children’s book, ‘Gribble the Goblin’, was written for his own children and published in 1983 and he has been making up stories for them and his six grandchildren ever since.

Sheena Wilding, Head of Nursery, said:

“What a wonderful experience for the Nursery and his words of support for children writing their own stories. We are all looking forward to seeing the Busy Bees made up story ‘The Drip that wanted to be an Ocean’. They’ve been working on the story for the last few days and it will be displayed in the Nursery hall.”

The children and teachers also came dressed up in their favourite character from a book. Outfits ranged from pirates, Matilda, gruffalo and ladybirds!
