Qualified For The ISA National Football Tournament!

Junior Boys hosted the U11 ISA Football Regional qualifiers for the first time on Monday 5 March.
The Claires Court team played fantastically in their group matches, beating Knightsbridge 1-0, Caversham Prep 2-0, The Gregg 6-0, and marginally losing by 1-0 to LVS.
The boys went on to beat Sherborne House 1-0 in the quarter-final. This win meant the boys had qualified for the ISA National Football tournament, for the first time ever!
The boys were very proud of their achievement; however, the next task was to win the tournament. Buoyant from their qualification, the team played in the semi-final against Alton, demonstrating slick passing, good movements and strong tackling. Finn Keylock was instrumental in the victory, scoring a superb hat-trick, and the game finished 4-1 to Claires Court.
The U11s were through to the final to face Hawley Hurst. With no goals at full time the match went to the lottery of a sudden death penalty shootout. Despite some impressive goals, unfortunately the boys lost 5-6 on penalties.
The Claires Court U11 ‘B’ squad also played very well, reaching the quarter-final in the plate competition.

Edward Barber, PE teacher, said:
“For the ‘A’ team to finish runners-up, and the ‘B’ squad to reach the quarter-final in the plate competition in a tournament made up of 25 teams is a terrific achievement. Each boy did their school proud. They all acted graciously in defeat and in victory, and were a credit to our school. We’re all very much looking forward to the ISA National Football Tournament, which will take place on 23 March at Dixie School.”
