Fancy Dress Charity Walk
To raise funds for the charities our pupil voice and school councils chose to support this year, Year 7 and 8 boys and girls did a sponsored walk for our school Charity Week.
The 3.5 mile walk took place from Dorney all the way back to Claires Court, along the Jubilee River. All pupils dressed up in fancy dress for the event, and costumes included the Mario Brothers, inflatable bulls and a speed camera! This year, the Senior Boys are supporting Pong Tek School, Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice, SportsAble, and Thames Valley Adventure Playground. The Senior Girls are supporting Pong Tek School too and the Autism Group.
The boys and girls had lunch on a nice bank on the Jubilee River and then stopped off at Thames Valley Adventure Playground to find out more about the challenges those with disabilities face and have a play on the equipment.
Michael Hudson, Senior Boys English teacher, said:
"The Charity Walk is always a highlight in the calendar for the younger pupils; we always get a warm reception from the members of the public who we see along the Jubilee River. This year was the first time the Senior Girls have joined up with us which was great to see. Stopping off to play at the Thames Valley Adventure Playground en route back to school is a lovely part of the day; the pupils get to see where their sponsorship money is going and so they can visibly see they are making a difference."
