Les Mis - The Best Bits

Over 166 Junior Girls and Junior Boys from Years 3 to 6 came together on Tuesday 20 March for a phenomenal joint Les Mis themed concert.

Hugh Wilding, Administrative Principal, commented:

“The sheer range of talent displayed made the concert one of the best Junior concerts I’ve ever been to. The pupils performed an extraordinary amount of songs to an outstanding standard and I was also very impressed with the orchestra.

“To have singer Niamh Bates, Sixth Former, and former pupil, Harry Bennett, a clarinet player who is joining Purcell Music School, as guests, was a wonderful way of showing the Juniors what they can aspire to.”

The audience of 340 parents and over 70 staff were taken aback with the sheer volume and power that the pupils projected. Concert highlights included Year 4 pupil Kida’s rendition of ‘Concerto in G F Seitz’ on the violin, Year 6 pupil Téo playing ‘Nu Vole Bianche’ on the piano, and Laranya in Year 5 playing ‘Oh When The Saints’ on the trumpet. The girls and boys choirs also sang beautifully, performing Les Mis classics such as ‘Do You Hear The People Sing’ and ‘At the End of the Day.’

The concert finale had everyone singing their hearts out in a mass choir waving red and black flags, earning them a rapturous standing ovation.

Justin Spanswick, Head of Junior Boys, added:

“It was one of the most humbling and breathtaking evenings that I have had the privilege to enjoy at Claires Court. It was a night the boys, girls, parents and staff will never forget.”
