Books And Bushcraft

It was a memorable evening when Dads joined their boys for the annual Books and Bushcraft event.

The boys started the evening with a brief introduction led by Mr Leuzinger who showed some unusual and more traditional fire lighting methods. Then it was their turn to have a go! This really meant they had to draw on our school core values of problem solving, communication and resilience! Next they split up into classes when the lads and Dads from 5G were treated to a gourmet meal of hot dogs cooked over the campfire. Meanwhile, 5Y took a trip up to the library to discover the literary delights (and the comfy cushions and snuggly rugs). There the boys were sharing their favourite books with their Dads and showing them all the books in their library all over the top floor and the balcony. As expected the Bushcraft and Adventure books were very popular!

The classes then swapped places until the end where they all came together for that most wonderful of campfire ritual: the S'more making - as boys and their Dads toasted their marshmallows over the campfire (many for the first time). It was decided by all that this had indeed been a fantastic evening!
