Junior Girls Summer Showcase

Staff, parents and pupils were all treated to a wonderful evening of music on Thursday 14 June from Junior Girls in Years 3 to 6. Emma Stevenson, Junior Girls Music teacher, gives her thoughts on the evening:
The concert consisted of slick group numbers and polished solo performances ranging from the punchy Greatest Showman opening number, ‘The Greatest Show’; to a beautiful mournful solo ‘Serenade’ on the cello by Darcie’; to the Year 5 ocarina ensemble performing the Jurassic Park and the Titanic theme.
The newly formed Year 4 Class Orchestra played ‘Hallelujah’, and the girls displayed confidence and talent aplenty, especially considering this was Year 4’s first year at learning an instrument. They also performed in flute, violin and cello ensembles. They did a great job and now pass the mantle onto Year 3 for their chance to experience learning an instrument in September, and for the first time we will be offering brass, so this fantastic initiative is growing!
The girls put on a wonderful show with a cabaret feel and delivered some very moving performances, closing the show on song ‘A Million Dreams’, again from The Greatest Showman, where some of the Year 6’s wowed us with some wonderful solos. Well done girls, you did us proud!
