Nursery Sports Day

Sheena Wilding, Head of Nursery reports on the day:

Wow what a Sports Day! Your children never fail to astound me and showed depths of resilience beyond their years, an ability to follow instructions and a huge willingness to take part. You must be very proud parents and deservedly so.

From the moment they lined up in their classrooms they behaved impeccably, walked out to their assembly area by the track and ran, used tricycles and carried bean bags on spoons in front of a large, cheering crowd and these 80 children are only 3 and 4 years of age! Some stumbled but got back up and carried on, others needed minimal support in using the tricycles but all showed enormous perseverance, and had huge smiles on their faces most of the time! The toddlers race gave me great hopes for future sports days when I saw them charging down the track.

Having watched some footage of that great football legend, David Beckham, at his daughter’s sports day earlier this week I realised that we are not the only school to have the parents racing with bean bags on their heads.  It is a Nursery Sports day after all. I have to say that the parent body here can be proud of their achievement and would give David Beckham a run for his money, at least with bean bags on heads!

As always thanks go to amazing children and hugely impressive teachers, the Year 6 girls for organising the winners’ ribbons and moving the equipment up and down the track, the maintenance team for setting up the sports ground with lines, fencing, seating and gazebos, the catering department for refreshments, the PTA for the ribbons and Nursery equipment given to us throughout the year and you, the parents, for all your support and friendship. Have a great summer and enjoy the other impressive sports events happening at the moment.
