Nursery Explore Different Surroundings

To link to the children's theme of parks and woodlands, Nursery travelled by minibus to the Junior Boys site. They had great fun exploring the grounds and learning about the environment with three parents joining them on their adventure.

Tara Ainsley, Nursery Teacher explained more,

Nursery exploring the outdoors“The children started off by searching for the items listed on their clipboards. They studied the trees and used their senses to not only see them but to listen to their leaves, smell the bark and observe the lovely colours. Having felt the different textures, they created some rubbings of the leaves and bark before walking through the small meadow, listening to the various sounds of the birds and discovering various types of grasses and of course selecting enormous sticks to help them walk. The children were very excited when they found a mound which they climbed up until we could see the other side which was laid with wood resembling a bridge. Here they thought about the story of Three Billy Goats Gruff and ‘tripp trapped’ over the bridge.

The hungry explorers were pleased to finish their walk with some juicy apple and much needed water. The best part of the morning for many of the children when asked was… the minibus trip! So thank you to Stuart, they can't wait for their next ride.”
