Junior Boys Harvest Festival

The sports hall echoed from afar with the sound of boys singing and reciting poems during their Harvest Festival.
Poems recited included ‘Sounds Good’ by Judith Nicholls, ‘One for the Pineapple’ by John Foster, ‘Dinner-Time Rhyme’ by June Crebbin, ‘My Mum’ by Kevin McCann, ‘Fruit Picking’ by Jack Ousby, and ‘Jelly-love’ by Vernon Scannell. A range of songs were performed by Year 1,2,3, and 4, including ‘Dingle Dangle Scarecrow’, ‘Easy Peasy Harvest’, ‘Thank Your Lucky Stars’ and ‘Let’s Harvest’. Junwen impressed everyone with his renditions on the violin of ‘Try to Remember the Kind of September’ by Harvey Schmidt and ‘Autumn Leaves’ by Joseph Kosma.
The whole audience and pupils came together to sing four Harvest hymns, and food brought in by pupils was donated to ‘Foodshare Maidenhead’ and the ‘Windsor Homeless Project’.
Dean Richards, Head of Junior Boys, commented:
“Our traditional Harvest Festival was a tremendous opportunity for the Junior Boys to demonstrate their learning and understanding of an ancient celebration and it's connections within a modern society. Our ethos of kindness and community were also clearly demonstrated by the boys with their powerful messages and generous donations to the two respective local charities.”
