Regional Finals Here We Come!

This Wednesday, our U16 Hockey Squad travelled to Bradfield College to play in the Berkshire County Hockey Tournament. With 11 schools entered, the competition was high and all players were raring to go.

The Claires Court squad had five games in their section, and performed exceptionally well in all their games, going through above Pangbourne College to play in the semi finals against Bradfield College. Unfortunately our Hockey Captain, Lana, injured herself at the start of the afternoon and was unable to continue.

In a competitive semi final match, the Claires Court girls emerged winners after beating Bradfield 1-0. They then faced Wellington College in the county final. Unfortunately the girls lost 1-0 to Wellington but they played exceptionally well, and have progressed through to regional finals representing Berkshire in November.

Joanne Cox, Head of Sport at Senior Girls, and Victoria Barrett, PE teacher, reported back saying:

“We are so proud of the girls for playing fantastically and showing so much team spirit and camaraderie. What stood out for us was the the athleticism our girls had, and the speed at which they played and the consistent outrunning of their opposing players. We had a young side with girls aged 13 stepping up and playing against girls much older; it’s really exciting for the future seeing so much talent in our hockey teams.”
