Senior Boys Concert

A concert was held this week at Senior Boys and was a great success! There was a variety of music on offer, from group and solo items.
Singing seemed to be the most popular 'act' with Edward Miller, Theo Biehler and Panasche Chikwanda from Year 7 all giving wonderful performances of ‘Land of the Silver Birch’ by A Bullard, and Lionel Bart’s ‘Who Will Buy?’ and ‘I’d Do Anything’. It was also the first time that a group of nine boys and their newly formed group 'Variety Voices' sang together, with a great rendition of 'Fly Me To The Moon’ by Bart Howard.
Instrumental items included acoustic guitarist Kashshaf Baig performing ‘Gavotte’ by Hanel, Jack Downing’s ‘Ronde’ by Tylman Susato, pianist Robert Byerley performing ‘Cool’ by Stephen Wood, and Theo Josh playing an inventive medley of pieces on the piano that merged into one.
The jazz band delighted the audience with a performance of ‘The Muppet Theme Tune’ by Henson and Pottle and four boys in the electric guitar group showcased an upbeat performance of ‘Can’t Stop’ by Red Hot Chilli Peppers. The Year 7 to 9 choir came together to deliver ‘A Summer’s Over’ by Githe Christensen.
Adrian Roach, Senior Boys Head of Music, said:
“Well done to all the performers and the various peripatetic staff who prepared the pupils. As one person commented to me...it was 'boys at their best’.”
