Buy Tickets Now For Our Gambia Fundraising Event!
Claires Court is supporting ‘Charity Pearl The Gambia’ as its global charity this year, helping the organisation in its efforts to make substantial improvements to day-to-day life in the Brufut area of The Gambia.
To raise funds for building an education centre in Brufut, on Friday 25 January from 7pm at College Avenue we will be hosting an evening of African drumming from the accomplished Hartbeats, with a buffet curry provided by the popular local Gandhi Indian restaurant. All are welcome; tickets are £30 for a parent ticket, and £20 for a student/pupil ticket, and include food and entertainment, with a bar available on the night.
To purchase tickets please visit the Parent Pay Portal or by cheque payable to Claires Court PTA. Any questions please contact the Sixth Form Office on 01628 327560. Follow our blog on the Gambia Project to keep up to date with news on the project.
Work has begun in the Brufut area!
As a result of the School's initial donation, this month, the community in Brufut have been able to start building the well and move to establishing a water supply for their education centre. From the day the pump is installed, water will be available for free 24 hours a day to all neighbouring villagers who haven’t had access to water so far.
Robert Leder, UK Representative of Charity Pearl The Gambia, said:
“Thank you for your support. What an improvement to the lives of so many people. Without you this would not have been possible!”
In October 2019, Sixth Formers will be travelling to Brufut to visit the children and actively participate in the life of the community by running activities, as well as learning about the culture. There is still room for students to join the tour - please contact the Sixth Form Office for further information 01628 327560.
