Elicia Progresses To Regional Final In Chef Competition!

Congratulations to Elicia in Year 10 who has progressed through to the South East Regional Final of the Springboard Future Chef Competition, after wowing the judges at the local area finals. Seren, in Year 10, also performed brilliantly, coming third in the competition, but only the top two competitors progress to the next round.
The competition was held at Aylesbury College, and the girls were up against nine contestants, who had also passed their school heats. The group were tasked with producing a healthy main and dessert in 90 minutes.
Elicia and Seren used high level skills, with Seren making her own ravioli, and Elicia producing her Grandma’s plaice with mushroom stuffing and a lemon bechamel sauce. For dessert, Elicia made a chocolate and raspberry mousse, and Seren a poached apple dipped in caramel coated in crumble.
Kerry Irons, Food Technology teacher, said:
“Both girls performed so well and were very organised. The judges had high standards and included an Executive Chef from the prestigious Landmark Hotel in London. Well done to Elicia for progressing to the next round; she will mentored by the Restaurant Manager from the Luton Hoo Hotel, which will be a brilliant experience.”
We wish Elicia the best of luck when she travels to Crawley on 14 February!
