Fashioned From Nature

Year 10 and 11 girls studying GCSE Textiles recently took a trip to the Victoria and Albert Museum in Knightsbridge.

The girls went to see the 'Fashioned from Nature' exhibition, the first UK exhibition to explore the complex relationship between fashion and nature from 1600 to the present day.

The exhibition tied in perfectly for both year groups projects. Year 10 have been exploring the 'Natural World' and were very keen to see the fashion pieces which were inspired by nature. Year 11 have been given the theme of 'Reflection' for their examination unit so the girls found it useful looking at pieces which had been inspired by water and pattern.

Sophie Langton, Senior Girls Textiles teacher, said:

“This is the largest Textiles group that I have had the pleasure in taking out on a trip and all students were a real credit to the school. I was really proud of how the girls were and they all enjoyed taking photographs of the fashion exhibitions.”
