The tournament was in a 7 a-side format, and the group stage of the competition was incredibly competitive, with all three of Senior Boys matches against Ballard School, Leighton Park School and St James Senior Boys’ School finishing 0-0.

The team qualified for the cup, by finishing second in the group behind Ballard School who won both of their other matches. In the semi-final, the U14s played Meoncross School, and in another tight contest, the match again finished 0-0 after extra time. This led to a penalty shootout, with three players from each side involved. Tom Molhoek and Tommy Evans were successful in their penalties, managing to conquer nerves in a very tense atmosphere to register a 2-1 win on penalties.

The final against Ballard School was again another close match, with the defence nullifying the threat of Ballard's skilful forward. In the last two minutes, we won a short corner and Tom Molhoek beat the keeper to score what proved to be the winning goal.

“This was Senior Boys first national title and the celebrations at the end by the team very much signified this!

On the same day at Ballard School, our U15 hockey team competed in the U16 ISA National Hockey Tournament and won the plate, a fine achievement considering the age differences.

The first match was very much adjusting to the pace of U16 hockey. A 5-0 loss to Ballard School woke the team up and as a result, the next match resulted in a 2-0 win against Leighton Park School with a much improved display; goals were scored by Jacob Gunn and Oscar Parr.

The final group match resulted in a 3-0 defeat to eventual champions St James'. Qualifying for the plate competition, the semi-final was against Ballard B team saw the team deservedly win 1-0 with an extra time goal by Oscar Parr.

The final against Meoncross School was also very close with both sides creating chances, but it took a quality reverse stick finish from the top of the D by Jacob Gunn to decide the final in Claires Court’s favour!
