Horror Writer Brings Shivers And Scares!

Despite the recent spell of warm weather, there was a spine-chilling event in the Chapel this week.
Horror writer William Hussey brought shivers and scares to Year 9 girls and boys with his presentation on gothic fiction through the ages, from old European folk tales now sanitised by Disney to Bram Stoker's Dracula, Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and the works of Edgar Allan Poe. Senior Girls even re-enacted a face-off between Van Helsing and Dracula himself!
The Year 9 pupils were also initiated into the deceitful practices of 17th century witchfinders, such as English 'Witchfinder General' Matthew Hopkins. William Hussey thoroughly researched the subject for his own Witchfinder series, which included torture and intimidation.
There will be lots of lights left on at home...!
