Luton Hoo Hotel Challenges Pupils

A variety of challenges were set for Year 9 girls when they arrived at the luxury mansion house Luton Hoo Hotel for a day’s experience in a busy restaurant and hotel!
The challenges included a race against the clock to whisk egg whites, identifying spices, setting a table correctly and making mocktails. The girls also had a tour of the hotel including the luxury bedrooms, restaurant and lounge area where afternoon tea was being served.
The day was aimed to help pupils with their work on a collaborative project between Art, Food and Textiles where they are planning and designing their own restaurant. Pupil Audrey said: “I learnt many new things that I will incorporate in my restaurant.” Scarlett added: “I loved the Wernher Restaurant because it was made from marble!”
Kerry Irons, Food Technology teacher, said:
“The whole experience meant pupils appreciated the wide range of elements involved in running a hotel. A huge thank you to all the staff at the hotel for all their hard work and planning to ensure the girls had a worthwhile visit and learnt a lot of new skills.”
