SOCS Super 8 League Final
The Sixth Form 1st XI played in the final of the SOCS Super 8 league against Salesian College recently, marking the first time Claires Court have ever been in the football final.
Salesians are a strong team and Claires Court had not beaten them in the competition so far but the team went out with purpose and despite some great saves from Sam and good efforts on goal from Josh, Donald and Matt, at half time our boys were trailing 2-0. It could have been a higher score but for captain Sam’s fantastic reflexes in defending off the line.
The second half started with renewed enthusiasm and the team were rewarded early on with a super goal by Man of the Match, Matt, from an assist by Josh. A late penalty against Claires Court and a free kick by Sam, heading over the crossbar in the dying minutes, meant that the final score was 3-1. There is no shame in defeat when you have played as well as the boys did and they should be very proud.
