Modern Foreign Languages Film Festival

Studying foreign languages expands cultural horizons, breaks down barriers and increases living and working opportunities for young people.

Watching a film is a perfect way to learn a foreign language in context, while being exposed to real life conversation and new day-to-day phrases and vocabulary.

The Senior Girls MFL department has recently celebrated a short film festival, showing a variety films in German, Spanish and French.  The films watched included; German short called 'Dufte' set in post-war Germany; the award winning Spanish short 'Cuerdas', a moving story about a boy with cerebral palsy inspired by the director's children; and an episode from the French series 'Extra' a great comedy about a group of French teenagers who receive a surprise visit from an American pen-pal.

Eva Urzaiz, Senior Girls spanish teacher, said:

“The students enjoyed watching these short films that exposed them to different genres, stories and languages. A great and effortless way to learn!”
