Project Restaurant

A collaborative project in Art, Food and Textiles saw our Year 9 girls tasked with designing their own restaurant concepts, with some creative results!

An inspirational visit to Luton Hoo Hotel allowed pupils to learn the ins and outs of the hospitality trade, kickstarting their projects with a mass of proposals and ideas. In teams the girls designed all aspects of their restaurant from the name and logo to decor, uniforms and menus.

Weeks of intense hard work and planning culminated in a business pitch to a panel of judges which included Margaret Heywood, Senior Girls Head, and Sarah and Nigel from professional catering company ‘Feast’. From ‘Colour Cafe’ with the best interior design to ‘Island Bay’ with their tempting menu to ‘Athens Amour’ for best vision, the judges were so impressed with the creativity and imagination of the pupils!

Kerry Irons, Food and Nutrition teacher, said:

“All the girls really enjoyed the challenge and were so professional with all their concepts and presentations.”
