Bounds of fun at Longridge
A challenging day of outdoor activities and team building was in store for Years 5 and 6 when they visited The Adventure Learning Charity at Longridge.
Our Year 5 and 6 pupils demonstrated they are made of hardy stuff as they battled the elements when they took on the great outdoors for their ‘Outward Bound’ experience. Working in teams, pupils tried their hands at different activities including climbing, dragon boating, bell boating and crate stacking.
All of the pupils took on these tasks, some with huge amounts of enthusiasm and confidence, and some with trepidation. However, everyone gave each activity a go with each task providing an excellent opportunity for pupils to work together to overcome challenges, whilst learning how to cooperate and work effectively as a team. Most importantly it was a huge amount of fun!
After returning to school and a BBQ dinner the evening was spent playing team building games with an indoor overnight campsite set up in the sports hall.
Nick Butterfield, Junior Boys PE teacher, commended the pupils:
“The weather through the course of the day was enough to test even the hardiest of characters, however, it did not seem to dampen the pupils’ enthusiasm as they all showed great resilience through the two days.”
