U13 Cricketers Crowned County Cup Champions

Our U13 cricket team were bowled over with success as they fought off tough rivals Reading Blue Coats to claim the title of County Cup Champions!
Winning the toss the young cricketers donned their whites and took to the wicket. An impressive start saw the loss of only one wicket in nine overs, with runs coming in all directions. The boys had played the innings exactly as planned in their pre-game talk prior to the game and ended with an impressive total of 124-5.
A quick turnaround saw some impressive bowling from Claires Court, which claimed five wickets in the first ten overs. Astute fielding, orchestrated by captain Louis meant the opposition would need to score forty-two off of just eighteen balls, a mammoth task! Showing great composure, the boys saw out the remaining overs winning by twenty-two runs and four wickets!
Vital roles were played by Archie and Lewis, whose contributions and support for the team was greatly appreciated. This is a true sign of a successful squad, with everyone knowing the role they play in the success of the team!
Gareth Miller, Sports and ICT teacher, applauded the boys performance:
“It was the best game of cricket I have ever seen by a U13 team in all facets of the game and I am very proud of the boys’ achievements! I am very much looking forward to see our young players progress further in the cricketing careers.”
