Out of the Classroom and onto the Campus at Buckinghamshire New University

Our Year 12 Business students got to experience university life first hand with a recent visit to Buckinghamshire New University.
As part of a Business ‘taster day’, students were taken on a tour of the university campus and were set a ‘dragon’s den’ style challenge to design and market a drinks product. Using different marketing tools, such as a ‘unique selling point’ (USP), and ‘segmentation, targeting and positioning’, STP, the students came up with three different products; a protein drink, a squash mocktail and a luminous drink. Each drink recognised the external influences on businesses today such as the sugar tax and environmentally friendly packaging. The “dragons” praised the teams for their presentation skills and good application of the marketing mix.
For many students this was their first visit to a university and an important lesson to visit any prospective choices for their UCAS applications before applying.
Rav Sahota, Sixth Form Head of Business and Economics, said:
“It was an invaluable experience to all the students.”
