Rugby Squads raring to go after Pre Season Tour

With the start of the new school rugby season just around the corner, fifty five boys from the U14 and U15 Rugby teams were put through their paces during a pre season tour in Cardiff.

The aim of the tour was to prepare the boys physically and tactically for the season ahead with training sessions from Welsh team Cardiff Blues Pro 14 coaches at their famous ground Cardiff Arms Park, along with gruelling fitness sessions on the beach. The teams also played fixtures against Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Bro Edern school and Cilfynydd RFC which certainly got the boys off to a flying start!

The boys also had the opportunity to watch some professional matches during the tour as they saw Cardiff RFC compete against Pontypool RFC and the Cardiff Blues take on Newport Gwent Dragons. A trip to the Principality Stadium, the home of the Welsh national team, topped off the weekend.

The tour allowed both players and coaches to get to know each other, especially the PE department’s latest addition, Ex Newcastle Falcon Patrick Dias, who will be coaching the U15’s this year.

Simon Carter, Senior Boys Head of PE, praised the boys:

“As always the boys were incredible ambassadors for the school and look forward to taking what they learnt into the new season.”
