Chess Success for Junior Boys
With the new chess season still in its infancy, our young chess stars, Henry, Year 3, and Josh, Year 6, have burst out of the blocks notching up a number of impressive performances in their respective competitions.
Competing in the Regional Delancey Gigafinal, Henry was ranked 21st for his age group and 2nd for the Berkshire East area, a superb achievement! Meanwhile, Josh locked horns with the best junior chess players in the country at the Delancey Chess Terafinal. Playing in the Under 10 category, Josh earned a highly commendable score of 5.5 points from ten rounds!
Richard Hogg, Junior Boys chess teacher, praised the pupils:
“I always feel great pride witnessing the success of our pupils beyond the walls of our school and I am always keen to hear and tell of tournaments the boys have been playing in different parts of the country.”
