Learning through Performance

A recent workshop allowed Year 1 and 2 to experience learning through the art of performance, discovering information all out about seasonal the festivities of Diwali and the Gunpowder Plot.
Getting in their time capsule, pupils travelled back to 1605 where they took part in a ‘hot seat’ activity, pretending to be part of the Gunpowder Plot! They were interviewed about how they felt about King James and asked whether they had any good ideas about how to take action. There was also the opportunity to role Guy Fawkes himself, describing their plans to blow up the Houses of Parliament!
After returning to the present day, the boys formed a plane with their bodies and flew to India to learn about the festival of lights, Diwali! This was a great opportunity for pupils to learn some Bollywood dancing and learn about the story of Rama and Sita.
Bethan Morris, Juniors Boys teacher, commented:
“The boys thoroughly impressed with their knowledge and it was a fantastic opportunity for this age group to learn about these important events through drama, dance and movement.”
