Rapping Lyrical

Last week saw the clash of the Year 7’s, with a fiercely fought ‘rap battle’ between tutor groups 7D and 7A.
The boys have been studying poetry this term and have most recently been tasked with the art of working regular metre patterns into their own verses. This led to them crafting some phenomenal rap efforts, which they performed to their peers in Assembly.
So many people, pupils and staff, have spoken positively about the creative efforts of the boys - and the high standards of what they were able to produce. Henry from 7D has become something of a Claires Court legend with his original take on a rap about chess!
Jennifer Ging, Sixth Form English teacher, commented:
“Mr Cripps and I are very proud of them. The overall winners are to be announced next week…”
