The battle for Junior Boys!
War cries could be heard all around Junior Boys as Year 6 re-enacted the famous ancient battle between Greek city-states Athens and Sparta!
The Peloponnesian War between Athens and Sparta had been in the planning since September when pupils had been set the task of designing and creating their own hoplite shields, but as the boys entered the Sportshall, they were transported back to over 400 years before the birth of Jesus.
A battle for the very soul of Greece was to be fought; a test of the boys' craftsmanship, as well as their retention of hoplite battle tactics which had covered in class.
Standing shoulder to shoulder with their comrades they linked shields as the rain of deadly beanbags fell upon their ranks.
This day would be a day for heroes...
