A roarsome morning at Junior Boys
Learning was brought to life this week as Year 1 pupils came face to face with a dinosaur during an interactive workshop run by Teach Rex.
Upon discovering some mysterious looking eggs in the grounds of Junior Boys a few days previous; pupils and staff decided to contact the ‘eggsperts’ from Teach Rex for their help. The assessment from our eggsperts when they arrived revealed that these could, in fact, be dinosaur eggs!
Pupils were then transported back to the Jurassic era as they learnt all about the world of dinosaurs and fossils before being introduced to ‘Jam’ the dinosaur. There was some a great strength of character on display as pupils greeted the four meter creature, with some even playing games with the dinosaur!
Jam formed the basis of the rest of the workshop as pupils were challenged to think scientifically and to use their imaginations when devising their own movies about the dinosaur.
Bethan Morris, Junior Boys Year 1 teacher, was thrilled with the experience:
“Our pupils have covered a wide range of skills without even knowing it - such as technology, science, literacy, drama and of course they have learnt plenty for their new topic!”
