Amazon adventures at the Living Rainforest
A walk on the wild side was in order for our Year 6 Junior Girls when they experienced the tropical conditions of the Living Rainforest, located at the ecological centre in Hampstead Norreys, Berkshire.
To supplement their learning of this term’s topic ‘Amazon adventures’, pupils enjoyed a guided tour of the indoor rainforest, focusing on how plants and animals have adapted to suit living in a rainforest environment. A highlight of the day for most of the pupils was the chance to meet the centre’s resident sloth, Cinnamon!
Jawad Laouira, Junior Girls Year 6 teacher, described the learning opportunity: “The girls learnt all about the plants and animals of the rainforest, discovering how adaptation can lead to evolution over time. We are very fortunate to be able to extend pupils learning with educational trips outside of the classroom."
