Celebrating Chinese culture

Nursery pupils welcomed the year of the rat by exploring the culture and cuisine of China when they recreated their own Chinese restaurant this week.
At the mock restaurant, pupils enjoyed taking each other’s orders and had the opportunity to practise their fine motor skills as they learned how to eat with chopsticks. On the menu was some authentic Chinese food which included noodles and rice. Pupils then incorporated any remaining chopsticks into their artwork.
Noelle Freeman, Nursery leader, commented on the learning activity: “This was a great opportunity to introduce the children to a new culture and to learn in a creative, play-based environment”.
