Our Junior Girls just can’t wait to be lion kings!
Excitement reached fever pitch when our Junior Girls embraced their inner animal and took to the stage for their spectacular performance of The Lion King.
Claires Court was transformed into the pride lands of Africa when pupils from Years 3 to 6 stunned families, staff and friends of the School with their accomplished and highly energetic performance of the popular musical. Buoyed on from their message of support from cast members of London’s West End production of The Lion King, pupils acted with confidence, performing a number of solo and ensemble pieces including ‘The Circle of Life’, ‘I Just Can't Wait to Be King’ and ‘Hakuna Mata’. The quality of acting was evident as pupils regaled the audience with the tale of the young lion cub Simba, which was complemented by a fantastic assortment of costumes and props, really bringing the story to life.
Lindsay King, Acting Head of Junior Girls, was bowled over with the performance: “At Claires Court, we set high expectations for our pupils in all that they do and we aim to provide them with opportunities that help them to grow and develop in every possible way both academically, creatively and socially. The girls always live up to our expectations but I think it’s fair to say, they surpassed all expectations. While having a wonderful time working towards their breathtaking performances, the girls have developed their confidence and resilience through taking risks, stepping out of their comfort zone and working together creatively. All important life skills that I hope they take with them through school, work and life, along with happy memories of an unforgettable experience.”
