Painting by the Thames

GCSE art pupils recently enjoyed a visit to the Stanley Spencer Gallery where they had the opportunity to view an exhibition entitled 'Painting by the Thames'.
Pupils were taken on a tour around Cookham, looking at the sites where Spencer painted and also enjoyed a very informative talk on Spencers' life and work by previous Claires Court Head of Art, Jan Price, and toured the gallery. The remainder of the day was spent in the Art room reproducing paintings by Spencer that can be used as research for their projects.
Joel Wareing, Senior Girls Head of Art, spoke of the value of the visit: “The trip fitted in perfectly with the Year 10s 'My World' project and the Year 11's 'Event' exam project. It was a very productive and enjoyable day and students managed to produce a large amount of work in one day!”
