The story of St George
To mark St George’s Day on Thursday 23 April, our Year 1 Junior Girls were tasked to devise and film a dramatic retelling of the story of St George to share in their Google Classrooms.
Legend has it that a knight named George saved a princess and her village by slaying a dragon which had been its blight. Pupils rose to the challenge of using new technology and creatively acted out the tale with the help of puppets and props.
Rebecca Saddler, Junior Girls teacher is thrilled with how pupils have adapted so quickly to distance learning and commented: “The results of this activity were fantastic with the girls enjoying a similar topic lesson to what we would normally have in school. Year 1 has certainly embraced Google classroom. At this age, keeping a familiar routine in place with a balanced mix of both practical, written and screen-based learning has been key. They love getting feedback each day on their learning, with house points still being awarded!”
Here is one of our favourite clips for you to enjoy.
