Great Grades at GCSE Results

Girls and boys have been celebrating at Claires Court thanks to their excellent GCSE results. 86.2% of the grades were at grade C and above (nationally 69%), representing a 1.7% increase on the previous year (0.2% nationally).

The boys saw 91.8% of the candidates
achieving five C grades and above, with the girls bucking the national trend for the decline in top grades, as 41.5% of the grades achieved were at A* and A grades. Across the School, there was a 4% rise in the number of pupils achieving five A*-C grades including Maths and English.

Harry Moreland, top performer at Senior Boys with 6A*, 4A and 1B, said, “I’m feeling good! My results are great, over and above what I expected.”

Ed Axtell, was delighted with his 4A*, 5A and 2B grades, saying, “I’m really happy and pleased that all the hard work has paid off.” His mother, Mrs Johanna Axtell said, “He studied really hard, I am so proud.”

Head of Senior Boys, John Rayer said,

”This years results reflect the strength and depth of our pupils and I am delighted that their results reflect the efforts that they have put in through the year.”

The Girls reporting an increase in top grades, were also recognising that 90% of the grades in English Language were at A-C, with 100% of the grades for Spanish, German, Statistics, Art and Textiles in this top bracket too.

Senior Girl, Kathryn Wills who received 4A*, 3A and 1B grades said, “I am so shocked and happy at 4 A* grades but the one I did not expect was an A* English Language!”

Georgia Toay was delighted to achieve 1A*, 5A and 5B grades and commented, "I'm really happy with my results and excited to start sixth form!"

Paul Bevis, Head of Senior Girls commented,

“I am delighted  with our GCSE results for Senior Girls, which reflect the enormous amount of work and dedication by pupils and teachers in a joint enterprise. They can now all go onto the next stage of their education with a huge amount of satisfaction and pride."

James Wilding, Academic Principal summed up the results,

“I am delighted for all of our boys and girls who have received such excellent GCSE results this year. Their abilities span a very broad spectrum and they have worked very hard to great effect. The vast majority can move on to study their A Levels certain in the knowledge that they have the grounding for university entrance on top courses.  Our extended curriculum also equips them with leadership and life skills that will impress in the work place.”
