Getting to grips with GCSE English

Embarking on a learning journey which will span two years and will culminate at the end of Year 11 with their GCSE qualifications, our Senior Boys in Year 9 have begun work on their English GCSE.
Getting to grips with the challenges posed by GCSE level work, pupils have been tackling literary analysis in English this week, looking into details of the poem ‘Still I Rise’ by Maya Angelou. Jennifer Ging, Senior Boys English teacher, commented on the work: “Pupils had a go at discussing the impact of language and structure - all whilst making detailed distance learning notes. Here is an example from Ryan G’s Anthology - great notes, Ryan - I love the visual tribute to Maya Angelou too!”
