Young entrepreneurs embark on summer venture with opening of gaming cafe Zajees
Claires Court pupils Jessica and Zac are set for a summer holiday like no other as they make final preparations to open and run their very own gaming cafe, called Zajees.
When asked what they were planning to do with their summer Jessica, Year 7, and her brother Zac, Year 5, came up with a plan to set up their own gaming cafe, a space for children between five and 13 to come and play video games including virtual reality games and a variety of retro arcade games such as Pac Man and Space Invaders. The brother-sister duo have been hard at work to bring their idea to fruition over the past six weeks and have been busy decorating and stocking their cafe as well as developing their business acumen, learning about profit margins, customer satisfaction, points of sales terminal and of course a lot about video games. Aware of the challenges posed by Covid-19 to businesses, Jazees will have hand sanitisers, masks, wipes and gloves available at the door to eliminate any nasty germs.
Located in the Cookham Arcadeon the high street, Jazees is due to open its doors on Wednesday 22 July and operating hours will run from Wednesdays to Sundays between 1pm and 6pm throughout the school holidays. Jessica and Zac will be manning the cafe as much as possible, serving snacks and drinks as well as helping customers with their gaming. Speaking about the venture Zac said: “Come join us at Jazees on Wednesday 22 July and enjoy the best experience ever. Jazees is a gaming cafe for children aged five to 13 as well as a ‘DIY nail bar’ for those who wish to paint their nails. Just drop your kids off and pick them up at any time. A variety of food and drink is sold at low prices. If you are a bit worried about Covid-19, we have masks and gloves to keep everyone safe from the viruses. This is a one off opportunity for Summer 2020 and we hope to see you there”.
