Back with a bang in the Senior Boys Science labs
After nearly six months away from school, Senior Boys in Year 8 burst in the science laboratories, eager to get back to enjoying some practical educational experiences, and they did so with a bang.
An introduction to the topic of atoms, elements and compounds saw pupils undertake a practical experiment to investigate how elements such as potassium iodine react. Commenting on the learning experience, Senior Boys Biology teacher Ronell Selzer said: “Pupils made ‘elephant toothpaste’ and investigated how hydrogen peroxide, with a little help from some fairy liquid, reacts with potassium iodine. It is these hand-on experiences that really brings learning to life and engages the pupils.”
