Sailing under the stars

Claires Court sailors were out in force last week as they took part in the Maidenhead Sailing Club’s (MSC) annual ‘night sail’.
With nothing more than moonlight, and some well placed fairy lights, Senior pupils Sam, Jonny, Jonathan and Aaron from Year 11 along with Year 9 pupils Ollie and Amber and staff members Caroline Payne, Cathy Tyne and Sammy Isaacs-Johnson joined the MSC members to compete in a race in the dark. Caroline Payne, Outdoor Education and Activities Administrator commented: “The night sail was a great opportunity for our young sailors to get out on the water under a different circumstance and we were very lucky to be out see Jupiter and Saturn in the nights sky, along with a shooting star”.
Further sailing news saw impressive results for Year 7 pupils Sam and Jude who competed in the British Youth Sailing Regional Junior Championships at Datchet Sailing Club and saw Sam finishing 4th in the optimist fleet and Jude finishing 26th in the topper fleet, both fantastic results!
