Tennis ace claims singles victory at International Tennis Federation Juniors tour

Balancing the books and the racquet, Sixth Form tennis star Issey took a short break from her academic studies to compete in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior tour which took place in Ingelheim, Germany last week (October 4).

Overcoming a number of high ranking players, Issey showed her prowess to claim her second ITF singles title. A tough draw saw Issey face the number one seed in the first round. Seeing off her opponent, Issey progressed through the tournament reaching the finals where she clinched victory and the singles title. A busy week of competition also saw Issey progress to the quarter finals of the doubles competition and her progress in the tournament has seen her jump up the rankings by 300 places and is now ranked 784.

Commenting on Issey’s achievement, Johnny Delgado from the Delgado and Lee Tennis Academy said: “Fantastic achievement by Issey to win the ITF junior event in Ingelheim, beating a number of higher ranked international players. Issey has been working extremely hard throughout the last few months, and started the event off perfectly to beat the tournament number one seed in the first round. This is a great first step in her goal of playing at Junior Wimbledon in 2021, which if she continues to work as hard as she is doing, we believe she can do.”
