History has been on fire in the Junior Girls’ classrooms

Fire, fire! This week learning has heated up for Year 2 when they travelled all the way back in time to the year 1666 where they found London ‘ablaze’ in their classroom. Discovering a mock replica of the fire on Pudding Lane, the pupils did their best to tackle the flames with buckets of water, finding some special items which had been buried to be protected from the fire.
Hannah Tewari, Junior Girls Year 2 teacher, commented on the learning activity: “The reenactment of the fire was a great opportunity to experience history in action. When the girls ‘returned’ back to the present day, they had acquired lots of information about the events of the fire and lots of new questions which they will continue to explore this term.”
