Juniors give back to the local community in celebration of harvest

The culmination of our Juniors’ harvest celebrations this autumn term saw Claires Court families give generously and donate items from their food cupboards to local charities Foodshare and One Can Trust.

Learning about the importance of harvest around the world and to be thankful for what they have, our pupils jumped at the opportunity to give back during this difficult time by donating canned and dried foods such as pasta, cereals and cooking sauces to be distributed amongst the local community within Maidenhead. The harvest collections were taken to the charities’ respective food banks for storage until they are ready to be made up for food parcels to provide individuals and families who otherwise would go hungry on some days.  Lester Tanner from Foodshare commented: “ We are very grateful to everyone who contributed;  thank you for caring about people in and around Maidenhead who are in need of food support. We are helping around 400 people every week at the moment,  and expect more during the winter months, so the many items of food you donated are very helpful and much appreciated.”
