Claires Court Maidenhead

from Nursery to Sixth Form

Our schools’ history

As Claires Court reached a milestone this September and celebrated 60 years of providing high quality education in Maidenhead, our Junior Boys in Year 2 set out to learn a little bit more about the history of their school.

Conducting their own research using the Claires Court website, pupils produced their own digital newspaper articles full of facts about their school. Claires Court was founded in 1960 by the parents of present principals Hugh and James Wilding. Originally conceived as a boys prep school, demand for places grew rapidly and saw Claires Court expand across three sites and adopt its unique diamond structure where boys and girls are taught separately at Junior and Senior years but come together for coeducation in Nursery and Sixth Form.

The pupils were fascinated to learn more about their school and hear that their principals attended the school when they were pupils too. Putting their reporter hats on, the boys thought about some questions they would like to ask their principals next time they see them in the playground, including: 'what were your teachers’ names when you were at school?'; 'what were your friends’ names?' and ‘why do you think Claires Court is a very popular school?'
