Throughout the Remembrance commemorations, children learned the history and sacrifices of the many men and women who contributed to war efforts and paid respects with readings, poppy wreaths created at the schools and a wreath laid at Stubbings Memorial. And, due to the Covid-19 safety restrictions in place, Claires Court invited pupils and staff to wear red as a symbol of Remembrance and donate to the British Legion.

James Wilding, Academic Principal at Claires Court, said: “Remembrance Day is an important commemoration and lesson in history and reflection for everyone. This year with the restrictions in place and difficulty to provide poppies we wanted to raise awareness in a variety of very moving ways. I was particularly moved by the BBC festival of Remembrance on Saturday, in which prominence was given to the nurses of the armed forces currently working so hard on the front line with the NHS against the Covid-19 pandemic.”
