An international inter-school 3KM virtual running championship has been set up for staff, pupils and families to compete during lockdown and see how their times compare schools around the world.
Participating schools include Claires Court in Maidenhead, Berkshire as well as other schools in the United Kingdom, Italy, Panama, and Spain, amongst others. Staff, pupils and families can run 3KM and enter their times into a leaderboard with categories for school year groups, gender, staff and families. Certificates will be awarded for each year group and an overall school winner.
James Wilding, Academic Principal, said: “It’s very exciting to be able to continue a form of international competition and be part of this running championship. During the lockdown, this type of challenge where people can stay active while also having the incentive and opportunity to represent school and see how their times compare with other participants across the globe is fantastic and brings a form of connection with others. I wish everyone well.”
The running championship is open until Friday January 29 with winners announced on Monday February 1. Participants should run 3KM using a GPS watch or app on a phone and then log their running stats at http://schl.cc/b3, with as many entries as they would like.
Times recorded before or after the dates will not be included.
