An audience with world-renowned author Michael Morpurgo

This week our Years 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 Junior Boys and Girls were treated to an online meet with the world-renowned author of War Horse, Michael Morpurgo.
Pupils heard from Michael in front of his fire in his Devonshire home. He talked about several of his books including The Butterfly Lion, Private Peaceful and his latest book Boy Giant. He expertly gripped the attention of pupils and teachers alike as he shared anecdotes about the inspiration behind some of his best-loved books and gave tips on how to become a writer. He spoke about how reading can help us escape and enable us to live a different life during these unusual times.
Pupils were totally engaged by the event and were particularly interested to hear of the true stories many of his books are based upon.
We have many pupils who were already fans of his books and judging by the comments after the event we think he has gained many more.
The event was hosted by the children’s book charity Seven Stories to celebrate Michael Morpurgo Month.
