Junior Chess Success at Claires Court

Five Claires Court Junior Boys pupils have been selected to represent Maidenhead at the Junior Club Teams Chess final, hosted virtually by Barnet Junior Chess Association.

On 24 April 2021, Henry P and Raefe K took part in the Under 9 Team Finals in which their skill and talent shone resulting in some excellent wins!

Tom A, Kanishka S, and Ben N are now set to compete in the Under 11 Team Finals on 8 May 2021 where we know they will compete to their highest standard and ability.

Competition in these events is strong, with county players coming from around the country and to be selected to take part is a worthy achievement.

Mr Richards, Head of Junior Boys commented, “The boys, alongside many other pupils, take part in our Chess Club in which they have the opportunity to practice their strategies several times a week. As a school, chess is valued as a highly competitive sport that challenges the brain as it requires and strengthens, strategy and sequencing skills as well as their ability to remain focused.”

He added, "We are extremely proud of their achievement in being recognised at this level.  Well done to all the boys taking part!”
