from Nursery to Sixth Form

Fun in the sun at the National Schools Regatta

On 29-30 May 2021, Claires Court students returned to Dorney Lake to compete in the National Schools’ Regatta.  This prestigious event is the largest regatta for Juniors in Great Britain, attracting competitors from over 350 clubs and schools.

The Claires Court Sixth Form girls double raced on 30 May in the Crockford Bowl. The boat was stroked by Nuala M and Hannah H, both in Year 12. Due to Covid-19 and weather restrictions, the girls hadn’t raced in 22 months; however they both remained motivated and determined through adversity and trained extremely well from home, completing ergos and weights on their own. By Sunday evening it was clear the hard work had paid off as Nuala and Hannah placed 2nd in the time trial and 2nd in the final. Well done both!

On the same bank holiday weekend, our Senior Boys took part in the Junior Sculling Regatta. There was an added element of excitement as this was the boys first ever national event, and first competition in two years due to the pandemic. Noah B, Jack B, Charlie B, James T, Cameron T, Rafe S, Jake F, Jonah S and Luke B all competed and placed 3rd out of 33 crews in the timed trial and then held their position to finish 3rd in the final! Congratulations also goes to our B team who finished in 4th place and were the fastest B team in their event.

Overall, it was a wonderful weekend and everyone enjoyed being able to once again compete and socialise with other schools in the sunshine. Well done to all that took part!
