Speech Day 2016

On Thursday 22 September, Claires Court held its annual Speech Day and Prize Giving Ceremony. James Wilding, Academic Principal, welcomed pupils, parents, teachers and friends of the school to a fantastic afternoon of celebration. The event, held at the Magnet in Maidenhead, recognised the successes of the talented pupils and their achievements across all aspects of school life, from academic subjects to sport and the arts, plus those going that extra mile to receive the ‘Rotary Service Above Self Award’.
Head Boy and Girl, Thomas Williams and Lauren Walters led the speeches, which included a wonderful video montage ‘Window on the Year’. The film showed images from across the last academic year.
During the formal prize giving ceremony over 160 certificates and awards were presented by guest of honour Professor Andrew Williams, to pupils from Senior Boys, Girls and Sixth Form.
As the afternoon’s celebrations came to a close, parents and guests enjoyed tea and cakes with the guest speaker, Principals, Head teachers, and Sixth Formers.
James Wilding Academic Principal said, “I was delighted that our principal guest, Professor Andrew Williams was able to give our guests and senior school present such a clear insight into the challenge the arrival of new technologies is going to give us, and some indication of how the students themselves as leaders for the future could take some measure of responsibility for leading that change.
Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths impact upon all of us, both in terms of future careers and the wider society in which we live. Claires Court is indeed privileged to have such a passionate advocate for the common sense use of STEM, visiting the school every week.”
