U16 County Hockey Report
The girls started the competition a little sleepy losing to Bradfield Marist and Kennet in quick succession. The girls dusted themselves down ready to face Leighton Park. Claires Court started nicely with some wonderful attacking play down the right hand side and finally after a brilliant piece of individual skill the goal came through Isabelle Molhoek, and CC winning 1-0.
St Gabriel’s were the girls next opposition, and the girls feeling confident after their last victory began the game the stronger side. It was certainly a game for the forwards as the ball barely came over the half-way line! Claires Court were the eventual victors after another 1-0 win through Isabelle Molhoek’s last minute short corner strike! The girls progressed through to the County Plate competition and faced St Mary’s in the semi final. The game ended 0-0 and so a series of penalty flicks occured to find the eventual winner. With some outstanding goalkeeping and some calm and collected penalties the girls progressed through to the plate final winning 3-2 in the penalty shoot-out. In the final the girls faced Kendrick. Starting the game well Claires Court were too good for the Kendrick side and claimed the County Plate Trophy. Congratulations to all.
